Our entry for the architectural competition to design the new cultural centre in Nad Jazerom, Košice, explores the integration of tradition and contemporary urban life within a panel housing context from the communist era. The building reinterprets local forms and materials, creating flexible spaces for cultural events, markets, and community gatherings.

The design aims to reimagine unused green spaces, introduce new pedestrian and cycling paths connecting the neighborhood to public transport and the Hornád riverbank. The centre blends traditional earthen construction with modern prefabricated elements, all united by a translucent structure that blurs the boundary between park and building.

Flexible interiors provide space for performances, community events, a café, gallery, and library. Sustainable solutions, alongside traditional practices, serve both heritage and contemporary urban needs.
